Is their overwhelming passion just a product of her change? When confronted with a demon fr Shapeshifters, vampires, and fae, oh my. When confronted with a demon from her past, they'll have to work together or die. She fell in love with him and then he left her. Now he's back, but his enemies aren't far behind. It's a good thing Naomi's pretty open-minded since her man is now a Mountain Lion!! It's a very different take on Romeo and Juliet with each from a different 'court' but meant to be together.

Unfortunately, there's that wicked Queen to deal with! The scientist drugged into betraying her Breed friends gets her happy ending while evading a murderous traitor in the Breed compound. Four hot stories by four hot authors. Merry Christmas to me! View all 7 comments. Angela Knight's Mageverse can be confusing, but if you read this short story before any others In it, a young woman is introduced into the mageverse since she has the potential to become a magi.

She is recruited and falls for her sponsor. Good story. I've only read her as Jennifer Ashley, and she didn't disappoint here either. I loved the way the Changers and Skinwalker i Angela Knight's Mageverse can be confusing, but if you read this short story before any others His role was hysterical Coyote offers up a menage, but better than that.

You have to read it, it's one of my favorite passages in any book. I'm not typically a fan of stories like this, but it was really well done.

If you like Laurell K Hamilton, you'll love this story. Bella tries to save the love of her life from execution, even though he rejected and humiliated her in the Seelie Court 30 yrs ago. But he saves her. It seems to be a hint of more to another story maybe? I'll have to look it up. But there's more! Jess' father hates the Breeds and drugged her to give up their secrets since she works security for them. But the betrayal signifies her death.

Hawke refuses to believe the betrayal, and luckily for Jess, so does his Alpha. Jess, even drugged, managed to save the 2 female mates of the Alpha and his second before her father's organization tried to kill everyone. Too bad 14 months later, where the story picks up that she still hasn't forgiven herself and Hawke still hasn't made her aware that not only does everyone know she's innocent but her life is still in danger!

And oh, btw, she's his mate. The beginning's a bit confusing and the details of the drug her father gave her aren't clear, but I liked it just the same. View all 6 comments. Dec 22, Sarah rated it liked it Shelves: fiction-romance , library-books , fiction-unfinished-series. I better understood the world and even recognised a few of the couples from the books I'd previously read.

The other story I really liked was Knight's Vampire's Ball. Kat and Ridge were fun together and I would read more from Knight's Mageverse series. Vampire's Ball was a good teaser for the full series. Aug 19, Mojca rated it it was amazing Shelves: anthology , lora-leigh , cover-hunkiness , paranormal-romance-fantasy , season-greetings , angela-knight. It was simply too short and the characters bland. Not even the timely appearance of Lance could save it from doom.

Despite the hurried explanation of the few focal points of the backstory, I found myself scratching my head a few times, wondering just what the heck was going on. I felt too detached from everything that was going on, the characters and everything else. I actually found myself wishing it was longer, I truly wanted to see what happened next. This was a classic Leigh Breed novella with plenty of steamy attraction, steamier action, a little bit of angst, lots of conflicting emotions, great buildup to the finale, and loads of hunky Breeds.

Four short--hot--Christmas themed stories. Many, if not all, of them were part of a series. Fortunately, I was familiar with two of the series, so knew what was going on in the background. Something that bugged me in all the stories were the inexplicable breaks in the printing while the writing continued on as if no break occurred.

Vampire's Ball by Angela Knight was a continuation in her Mageverse series of which I don't care for. King Arthur and the rest of the Knights of the Round Table are vampires who feed off of witches. Many things about this theme don't jive with me. Then, there's the way the children are chosen for "the gift. Ridge has been asked to "change" Kat with "the gift. It appears to be part of the Stormalker series, of which I have not read before, but am interested in reading more of. He left without any word and two years later he returned ready to make her his mate. His reason for being gone redeemed him and the problems that he brought to her doorstep built the suspense in this short story.

Coyote played a main role here and I'm interested in reading more about his character. Sweet Enchantment by Anya Bast felt like it was part of a series and I was l o s t reading this one. Lots of characters were introduced with the feel of prior knowledge and after about 25 pages into it, I decided this wasn't something I was interested in reading. Did not finish. Jessica Raines and Hawke Esteban were characters in an earlier book that depicted Jessica as a traitor. I remember Hawke watching his mate being taken away and wondered how that was going to play out. Well, here's their story.

Surprising twist. Good tale, nicely done. Aug 17, Angela Angel's Guilty Pleasures rated it really liked it. A Christmas Kiss - Rated: 4 Stars Note: This novella was my first breeds experience and it got me interested enough to start the series. This one takes place at Haven.

We have Jessica a human who betrayed the breeds, but not because she wanted too. She has lost so much. This one was heartbreaking. I felt for Jessica and her loneliness and everything she lost.

The Necromancer - Supernatural Romance Audio Roleplay (Female Oriented)

Besides these two working out their issues, we have someone on the inside trying to destroy the Breeds. It was sexy and hot. I enjoyed seeing this couple celebrate their first Christmas together and with the other Breeds at Haven. May 11, SheLove2Read rated it liked it Shelves: The story by Angela Knight is part of her Mageverse series. I've never read any of them and probably won't. Started out ok with an interesting story, but towards the end it seemed to get sappy, and one of the characters was a little too raunchy for my tastes.

I liked her writing even if I didn't really care for the story. It flowed well and was creative. B- "A Christmas Kiss" by Lora Leigh was by and far the best story in this anthology and after reading, I would have bought this book for this story alone. It was so touching and passionate. I cried.

Hawke was the perfect hero in every way. View all 3 comments. These were all new-to-me-authors, except Lora Leigh. Two of them I liked enough to want to try again. A bit cruder than I enjoy and could have used more time on character development, but I liked the couple. Nummy hero. Set in an Immortals-after-Darkish world of modern fae.

Good reunion story. Will try the next book; the heroine Aislinn is briefly introduced here. View all 5 comments. Feb 10, Anna's Herding Cats rated it really liked it Shelves: anthology , anya-bast , lora-leigh , knight-angela , , allyson-james , need-review. Well, damn. First time I've ever wanted to trade places with a candy cane! Love this cover! Hot for the Holidays was chock full of new to me authors.

I have read Lora Leigh before but not anything from the Breeds series that her short story came from. Overall this is a very nice anthology with each story happening during the Christmas season. While I enjoyed Knight's and James' contributions the most each of the authors' contributions were enjoyable and kept my interest. I'd pick up books by any Well, damn. I'd pick up books by any of the authors included without a second thought.

  4. It doesn't take long to understand the world that she created revolving around King Arthur and his Knights. It can easily be read without reading the rest of the series. It's an interesting twist on the Knights and Ladies of the round table with them actually being turned into Vampires and Majae when they become the immortal protectors of mankind.

Laurie Treacy fantasy & paranormal author Hudson Valley, New York

Kat Danilo has just found out about this world and is being tested, by Vampire Ridge, to see if she has the strength to survive becoming a Maja. There was a bit of a mystery to be solved concerning a long ago murder and some difficult issues over loss and guilt touched upon. The chemistry between Ridge and Kat was both sweet and steamy.

I liked that they had some shared experiences that helped them understand one another. There was a lot happening in very few pages but it worked for me. The only thing that got me a little was how quickly Kat seemed to master her new powers once she had them.

The names did have me biting back a grin from time to time with their cheesiness. Ridge Champion, Jimmy Chosen? And the alternate world of Mageverse? But still a nicely done short story that felt complete and left me interested enough to go pick up the first book in the series. After disappearing 2 years earlier and breaking her heart Jaimson returns to protect Naomi and her daughter from enemies who are out to destroy the ones he loves. This one was full of Changers, skinwalkers, pervy trickster gods, a little mystery and some good action scenes all adding up to a great read.

Plus I'm just a sucker for couples getting back together after being separated for years and finally getting things right the second time around. I liked Naomi, she's got some sass and spice in her. She practical and doesn't let things knock her down for too long. I loved her reactions to pretty much everything and that she wasn't afraid to let Jaimson know how pissed off she was over his leaving years earlier. Jaimson was a decent guy especially once you knew why he disappeared.

He's laid back, in charge, sweet with her daughter who was deaf. Even though it doesn't look like this couple is the focus for the rest of the series I'm still interested to see where it goes from here and getting to see more of Coyote the pervy god. Favorite line? There were some interesting parts to the Fae world Bast created with them basically imprisoned and forced to live in a certain contained area and unable to leave. I liked that little twist since usually they're portrayed as all powerful and in control. Both characters were likable and it was heartbreaking to find out why things had ended so badly between them decades earlier and how much it had hurt both of them.

My big problem with the story and why I didn't like this one as much was the ending. Up until then I was really into the story and the characters. There is a happily ever after of sorts but everything concluded very abruptly. I knew the story was nearly over but when I read the last page it just didn't feel finished.

Things were still too up in the air for me and I fully expected at least one more chapter before it was really over so hitting the last page was a shock. I wasn't left with a nice satisfied feeling and sure everything would work out. Not a fan of that. I did like the writing though so will be picking up a full length book of hers to see how she handles endings with one of those. Better, I hope. I know better than to try anything with you right now. I did enjoy the story but I think I would have liked it a lot more if I had read the rest of the series first.

They should have known better than to relax their guard, because a shocking revelation sends them back into action to stop an all-out war. A rogue CIA agent is involved in horrifying secret activities that threaten to raise tensions between humans and the undead to dangerous heights. Now Cat and Bones are in a race against time to save their friends from a fate worse than death.

And if they fail, their lives—and those of everyone they hold dear—will be hovering on the edge of the grave. The climactic third novel in New York Times bestselling author Jeaniene Frost's Night Prince series finds Vlad and his newly turned bride, Leila, at odds with each other—and vulnerable to the one vampire powerful enough to end the Dark Prince's reign. Leila's years on the carnie circuit were certainly an education.

What she didn't learn: how to be a vampire, or how to be married to the most famous vampire of them all. Adjusting to both has Leila teetering on a knife edge between passion and peril, and now the real danger is about to begin. Vlad must battle with a centuries-old enemy whose reach stretches across continents and whose strength equals his own. It isn't like Vlad to feel fear, but he does. As friend and foe alike align against him—and his overprotectiveness drives Leila away—Vlad's love for his new bride could be the very thing that dooms them both.

Leila's psychic abilities have been failing her, and now she isn't sure what the future holds. If that weren't enough, her lover Vlad has been acting distant. Though Leila is a mere mortal, she's also a modern woman who refuses to accept the cold shoulder treatment forever—especially from the darkly handsome vampire who still won't admit that he loves her. Soon circumstances send Leila back to the carnival circuit, where tragedy strikes.

And when she finds herself in the crosshairs of a killer who may be closer than she realizes, Leila must decide who to trust—the fiery vampire who arouses her passions like no other or the tortured knight who longs to be more than a friend? With danger stalking her every step of the way, all it takes is one wrong move to damn her for eternity. Blake Turner had it all—until a demon decided to take residence in his soul. Plagued with constant black outs and a trail of dead bodies in his wake, Blake thinks vampire Elise is his best chance at ending the nightmare.
