I really love how she handles her new vampire status, with humour and a casualness, like this is not going to change who she is. She makes mistakes, learns to deal with her new situation and grows in confidence as a vampire as the book progresses.

The realism with which the author tackles all of these changes is a really refreshing departure from the usual dark, serious tone of vampire novels. I found the storyline in the first half of the book to be entertaining but maybe a little light on plot. Little did I know, but this was just a set up for the second half which was action-packed and full of twists and turns. Throughout New Blood the characters, the dialogue and the situations has me smiling and laughing.

I missed it here. Aug 22, Vannessa rated it it was ok Shelves: kindle-books , vampire-mostly. The story was nothing new really and was reasonably ok, but it was not as spectacular as I thought it would be based on other reviews. Emma works the night shift, has a close best friend Tammy and a fairly crappy boyfriend. All that changes one night when she's hit by a car and on the verge of death when a vampire turns her.

LPS~Crystal Blood Vampire (Episode 1: Meeting My Savior)

She wakes up the next day as a new vampire and now has to relearn how to live. She took this all in her stride and didn't seem particularly bothered to learn that vampires exist nor that she was now suddenly one of them. That annoyed me, I expected a bit more emotion from her than she showed. Alex, her sire, takes her to meet the local vampire leader who seems to take an instant dislike to Emma and sets them both the task of killing a rival vampire clan leader. I thought this idea was a good one, until you realised that the vampire in question was years old and Emma, who was all of 2 days old, seemed to kill him with no problems.

I know it stated that the older the vampire the easier the daylight takes them into sleep when it arrives, but this just seemed like an excuse for allowing Emma to win. I don't think it should have been as easy a fight as it was and more needed to be made of it. Alex I thought was a little slimy.

He did help Emma, teaching her how to hunt etc, but he lied a lot to her and I thought she seemed a bit pathetic when it came to their "relationship". Her stamping her feet in jealousy and almost crying "Do you want to be with me or not? I'm not especially bothered about reading the next one in this series as it didn't hold my attention for long enough and I didn't really care much for the main character.

Apr 19, Rorie rated it liked it. The book is an ok fast read, but the characters are fairly flat and the whole thing reads at the same pace and intensity. There are typos, and that always detracts from an overall experience. It's a fairly typical book for the genre. Aug 27, Laura Thomas rated it really liked it. Her night starts normally enough. Emma spends the evening at work. Her job at the advertising agency is not like they portray on TV. Most of the work is tedious and time-consuming. Then along comes the night supervisor, dropping on her desk a rush job which keeps her late.

Staying late to finish it is why Emma winds up in the wrong place at the wrong time, or is it? Well, that is for later. Exiting the subway, Emma is only a block away from her house when she sees them. Two young men are assaultin Her night starts normally enough. Two young men are assaulting another man. Before she can stop it, her scream slips out and their attention turns to her. She can see one is holding what looks like a knife and the other a stick.

As they rush her, she realizes she is mistaken, the knife is actually a metal cross.

Saved by Blood

Screaming still seems like a good idea, but just seems to spur them on. She keeps screaming and they run off. A quick glance at the victim reveals he is none the worse for wear. The whole encounter leaves her feeling strange. Her next encounter with the stranger is not by chance. And when Emma wakes up at his place, feeling great, wearing someone elses pajamas, with no idea how she got there, she is none to happy. And I do mean rough. Emma gets out of one situation and ends up in another and another…. It is amazing she is still walking around. She has some new friends, strange friends, and gets a roommate, which really complicates things.

How do you hide the fact you are now a vampire from your roommate and best friend? This leads to some sticky and funny situations. Check out this scene where Emma and Alex are looking up how to kill a vampire on the computer. While I was doing that, Alex completely removed his shirt and laid down on the couch. Now that I had the chance, and was technically supposed to be studying it anyway, I gave it a good long look.

His muscles had good definition without being beefy. You could see the indentations where his ribs were, but just barely. His chest was mostly hairless, except for a small tuft between his nipples. Looking farther down, I saw that he also had a slim, vertical strip of hair from his navel to the top of his pants. I held the stake in my left hand and used my right index finger to trace down from his collarbone, feeling for ribs. Remember the website we looked at? Go a little more towards the center. Did I forget to mention there is some fun, sexual situations in New Blood.

They are more hints than explicit, but still sexy. Lots and lots of surprises, plenty of schtick, and, yes, some romance and sexual encounters, New Blood delivers. I had a great time following Emma, reading about how she juggles all of the new complications in her life, or is it un-life? You will too. Like the supernatural? Vamps and other such characters? Plenty of strange for everyone. I loved this book and highly recommend it!

Looking forward to the next two books in this fun series. Mar 08, Home. To read this review and more like it, check out my blog, Urban Fantasy Reviews, www. It seemed a little short — like the book just ended right as we were getting somewhere or maybe I was just that into the story haha. Luckily I have the next one to dive into!

I love how they all have different nicknames for Willow its so sweet. The boys are fine as whine an as sweet as candy. Willow is kick ass I can't wait to see how she dose in book two. Dec 10, SD Jericho rated it it was amazing. This is the first book of the third series by Sadie Moss that I have had the privilege of reading. There are some authors that write multiple books and multiple series and you start to see incredible repetition and they become so predictable in their formula.

Sadie Moss does not have that problem — a fact for which I am incredibly and eternally grateful. Every book in every series, is unique and this new start is no exception. There are lots of books and so many TV Shows about vampires and their This is the first book of the third series by Sadie Moss that I have had the privilege of reading. There are lots of books and so many TV Shows about vampires and their magic and Sadie Moss still manages to write a story that is unique.

Then we have 3 brothers from different mothers and centuries, in some cases and each of them is special in their own way. The 3, in order of descending favourite are Sol, Jerrett and Mal. Sol is blind I know, right! Willow responds to learning about the supernatural world with a level of composure that is quite enviable. She does her period of grieving for who she used to be and goes through the stages as is expected until she is resigned to and eventually accepts her new status — a step that is helped hugely by the men sharing more information proving once again that education is important!

This introduction, while great in and of itself, also sets us up for some very fascinating and entertaining reading to come where many questions will be answered but also, where we see more bonding and intimacy between the 4. My one complaint, as it always will be with a good book, is that it should have been longer. Dec 01, Debbie Turk rated it really liked it. She's working two jobs to survive, one is for passion - baking, the other is to pay rent - bar waitressing.

She's 27 years old and made the big move after finally finding the courage to get a divorce from the most unsatisfying marriage imaginable! After making sure she's healed, they pretty much send her packing to get on with her life - with a few drastic new changes!! He snapped into hunter mode at the drop of a hat, when it was needed, which was hot! I'd very much imagine he's the balance between his 'brother's'.

His strength is quiet but soul deep. I could imagine him as a Dom very easily!! I don't want to give spoilers away but believe me, the Author has allowed herself so much space to expand, I'm really excited to see where she takes us!! It's really captured my imagination and that's not always easy in the RH genre!! Nov 29, Michelle rated it liked it. Really, I wish we could do half stars because I'd like to bump this to 3. We get to meet the spotlight characters: Willow, Malcolm, Sol, and Jerrett.

The three guys are vampires, of varying ages, and they're inexplicably drawn to Willow. Although they can't figure out why, they get this immediate sense that she's something to be treasured, something that needs to be saved. Moss' vampires come with the ability to run through and blend into the shad Really, I wish we could do half stars because I'd like to bump this to 3.

Moss' vampires come with the ability to run through and blend into the shadows as well as many of the traditional bonuses: enhanced senses, extra strength, etc. I want to learn more about Sol, especially, because he has a few other abilities that "Fate" gave him. It's also intriguing to me to find a blind character, not something that you come across every day. I'm really curious how it will affect him; so far, he seems to have figured his way through any challenges, particularly with the aid of his other vampire "bonuses", but there's potential to make that very interesting.

I call Saved By Blood a foundational novel because we're meeting the characters and getting a sense of conflict: the men don't want to make Willow public knowledge especially when they discover what was so alluring about her. However, we still need to learn a lot more about them all. We get enough to start establishing and telling apart their basic personality types, but we don't yet have a strong background in their stories, in the world-building. Overall, Saved by Blood was an entertaining read. There's a little bit of steam, but I get the distinct impression that book two has a lot more potential for some fun "play" time.

Willow is earnest and kind, Jerrett has the cool "bad boy" vibe going on, Sol seems to be the quieter one with a strong calming sense, and Malcolm, our broody vamp. I'm totally open to reading the next book to see how the characters, world, and conflict grow. There is one scene in particular I loved SO much, it really shined for me out of the whole book, but I won't spoil it for you. I can't believe Willow is handling things as well as she is with almost no details about the supernatural world she didn't know about - she adapts way better than I do, that's for sure. Jerrett is our fun and excitable "puppy-esque" vampire, with the rock god looks.

Then there is Malcolm, the strong and silent type, who is still hiding parts of his past and keeping secrets from Willow. I'm really excited to see where we go as Willow begins to be immersed in this new supernatural world she once never knew existed. Sadie Moss did a fantastic job with these characters, the detailed world building and the storyline. I thoroughly enjoyed this story from start to finish. These characters are easy to relate to, believable and entertaining. Willow is a strong and independent woman trying to come to terms with her new situation and she thrives well doing so.
